Who We Are

Our mission is to provide educational opportunities for adults to improve their literacy skills to a level requisite for effective citizenship and productive employment. This includes preparation for and successful completion of the high school equivalency program.

What We Do

Adult Education (AE) provides instruction to students who are 16 years or older and officially withdrawn from school. AE includes classes with paid instructors, one-on-one tutoring by volunteers when available, classes with one or more volunteers and preparation in learning centers. Central Community College provides AE classes and GED testing under the supervision of the Nebraska Department of Education. The program has these major components: Adult Basic Education for people with less than eighth-grade skills. English as a Second Language (ESL) for people who want to learn to speak, read and write English. Citizenship classes - EL/Civics which is civics instruction for immigrants and U.S. citizens. GED (General Educational Development) instruction for people who want to earn a Nebraska high school diploma.
