Who We Are
At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Nebraska, Bigs, Littles, parents, board, staff, and our supporters work to ensure that children reach their biggest possible futures. By igniting potential through one-on-one friendships, lives are changed. Nearly 80% of our Littles live in poverty and many face numerous other challenges. Through the support of mentoring their futures are transformed. Youth show up to school more, they graduate high school, they enroll in post-secondary education, they feel better about who they are, they even improve their relationships with their parents. At any give time there are approximately 30 Littles who are waiting for their Bigs.
What We Do
COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAM
This program matches youth ages 6-18 with a caring adult role model. The Little and Big meet in the community 2-4 times per month for a minimum of 4 hours per month exploring activities they enjoy.
SCHOOL BASED PROGRAM
This program pairs a high school student with a child in elementary school. The Big and Little spend 30-45 minutes per week one-on-one playing games.
VOICE
VOICE is as a space for youth of color and adults of color to connect. To connect, participants will share good food, play games, create art, and learn cutting edge information. This is a two year program for youth in grades 6-11. VOICE is a partnership with YWCA of Grand Island.
