Who We Are

The Literacy Council of Grand Island operates daily to teach our students, free of charge, the literacy skills necessary to communicate, grow, and thrive within our community.

Would you like to get involved? We are looking for volunteers to tutor, teach small group classes, assist in our community connections center or language learning lab. These volunteer opportunities do not require a teaching degree. Just the desire to help. We ask for our volunteers to commit to one hour a week.

What We Do

Programs

We provide free literacy instruction to all students through four main programs:

  • One-on-One Tutoring
